MARY FRANZEN
Selia Sunshine is a multifaceted individual with a rich and diverse background. Before turning to writing, she worked as a consultant to residential subdivision developers in Northern California, guiding projects from conception through the entitlement process to the building stage.
Her adventurous spirit led her to become an active member of the chase team for offroad races, with a particular fondness for the Vegas to Reno runs and the Baja 500. These experiences have shaped her into the dynamic and resilient person she is today.
Now, Selia enjoys sharing her life experiences through her writing. Her next book will delve into her upbringing in a small town in Northern California, exploring how living with an abusive mother forged her into the strong woman she is today.
I started my story in 2011 and had the first 14 pages completed.
I asked four different people to review what I had written to that point.
The unanimous response was, “wow, I want more.” Three of the people were known to me; one person was someone I had not known previously.
Yet, all had the same response of “wow.” I knew, someday, I would continue. I finally returned to the story in December 2018. I spent December 2018 and January 2019 living my life going down memory lane on a daily basis. I am happy to report; that the first thing I did was pull out the unused vacuum since November and vroomed my way through my home. With a sigh of relief, I sent the manuscript off to the publisher and was happy the writing portion of the process was completed. With a sigh of relief, I felt wonderful that I had learned more about myself than anything else. Through the experience, I found out so much about myself that I didn’t know existed but now know was always there. I can see why things in my life happen now.
My story is only a 17-year portion of my biography. Next time I plan to write about growing up in a very small town in Northern California, which will cover the other 55. I have been told many times, “you should write a book.” Well, I did. Now it is your turn!
